Luxurious self-catering holidays for large groups

Nestled in a valley on the edge of Bodmin Moor, Tregulland in North Cornwall is a luxurious self-catering home, designed especially for large group holidays of up to 24 people.

Tregulland is a stone’s throw from Cornwall’s best beaches, fishing villages and hidden gems. Just five minutes from the A395 and close to Exeter, it is accessible to get to, while the secluded setting means guests get away from the hoards in summer and find some tranquillity.

With every consideration thought of, there are places to celebrate together for a big meal, and cosy places to get away with a book. There are dream kitchens for cooking up a storm, and a huge gabled sitting room with a cinema projection screen. There is even an indoor freshwater swimming pool - the first in the UK.

Recently renovated to be as sustainable and as energy efficient as possible, Tregulland is the thinking person’s holiday retreat. The beautiful interiors, scenery, bespoke services and nearby attractions all combine into a magical blend - so magical in fact, you might spot a Cornish pixie during your stay.

Sustainability - Leading the way in energy-efficiency

Tregulland is a state of the art, energy-efficient holiday home which sensitively blends in with the natural Cornwall environment and featured on the 2011 Guardian Green Travel List the year we opened. Energy

All Tregulland's heating is underfloor (toasty in the winter and energy-saving) and each room has its own thermostat so everyone can set the temperature exactly how they like it while avoiding unnecessary heating. The entire place, including the swimming pool, is heated via a state-of-the-art biomass boiler in one of the outbuildings. Solar water panels provide the hot water in the summer and Photovoltaic panels to provide electricity were installed in 2011

Little details like induction hobs, LED lighting and super insulation in the walls with a silent heat recovery ventilation system help to keep energy use down for instance; the main lights in the vast Granary sitting room only use 100 Watts all together!

Reclaimed and Recycled

New purposes were found for much of what we took out of the old buildings:from 200 year old oak joists reworked into seats, lintels and shelves, the telegraph pole as table legs, slate slabs used as window sills and roof slates which have become placemats.

For interior design, Marcus Crane of McCully and Crane hand-picked all the furniture from vintage fairs, private collectors, and auctions. We then lovingly restored, re-upholstered and reworked various pieces into new life. eg. the up-cycled tubular chairs in the Cottage dining room, which are the creation of a Kevin McCloud green hero, Claire Danthois.

Where new joinery (like windows and doors) and new bespoke furniture was required it has been made by Footprint Joinery using FSC or sustainably sourced timber.

All of Tregulland's water including the pool is the purest Cornish spring water drawn up through the rock by our own borehole, so you can drink as you swim!
