Cornwall rightfully earned its reputation as a foodie’s delight in part thanks to the fantastic fish brought in to nearby fishing villages like Port Isaac and Looe. We have listed some of our favourites: please be aware we cannot mention them all, there are hundreds more brilliant restaurants worth trying, do let us know in our visitors’ book where you visit and tell us what you think! Temple Cornwall has an excellent innovative menu that wouldn't look out of place in the coolest city pop up - with seasonal ingredients, themed feast nights and guest chefs - also has an attached curated fashion and homewares shop.
Nathan Outlaw's Fish Kitchen, Port Isaac, PL29 3RH (01208 881 183) (38 minutes drive)
A tiny gem of a place in the gorgeous fishing village of Part Isaac with a fantastic menu that celebrates small, original and delicious seafood plates.
"Wherever possible we buy the best fish from local inshore day boats that are certified by the Responsible Fishing Scheme. We are proud of our local fishermen who land fresh fish and shellfish daily and work using low impact fishing methods that preserve our marine environment."
Rick Stein's The Seafood Restaurant, Padstow (33 miles)
Some might say a trip to Cornwall is incomplete without a wander over to Rick Stein's, whether his infamously hard-to-reserve main restaurant, or the Brasserie and the fish&chip shop, which are much easier for drop-in visits.
Since opening in 1975, The Seafood Restaurant has established an international reputation for imaginative cooking with the very freshest fish and shellfish. The restaurant sits just across the quay from where the lobster boats and trawlers come in and much of the fish comes literally straight off the boats and in the kitchen door.
The Dartmoor Inn (39 miles)
Ok so we have put them in the pub and restaurant section but which is it? One of our tried and tested caterers we like their style and their own place is a gem so its worth a visit either way! Just a 50 minute drive from Barford to sample their award winning food.
The restaurant is made up of a series of cosy, stylish dining rooms, each with its own identity. Although there are linen cloths and sparkling glassware on every table the feeling is relaxed. The award-winning cooking is based on seasonal ingredients and much work has gone into forging links with local farmers and food artisans to ensure the best raw materials.
