"We are working our way around all the Tregulland properties (just Barford to go now!) and love them all.

Blackbird is a real haven of peace and relaxation. Sitting here in the morning sun, watching Coots, Moorhens, Grebes (sadly only 2 chicks now), Heron, Cormorant, Swallows, Jays, Damselflies and Dragonflies. The Bats and Fox made an appearance at night and we saw some stunning shooting stars.

Love the fact that we are so close to Cornwall - we drove to Marhamchurch and did a great circular walk along the canal to Bude then back along the coast path to Widemouth. We are lucky that we live about 2 hours drive away - I'm sure we will be back!"

"Just had a superb weekend – so sorry to have to go back to the “real” world. So peaceful, chilled and relaxed – now definitely exploring our dream of houseboat living in our retirement. Fantastically appointed – everything we needed and can’t beat that view every morning and bird/fish watching. We also had time to explore and found one of my ancestors grave stones in Weare Gifford. Also recommend Appledore for a visit - Great crab sandwich at the Cabin. Also thank you to ESKA for Catering for us – superb Indonesian food! Thank you"

"What an amazing place!

Perfect relaxation. Saw 3 deer on arrival. Heron on last day, squirrels, ducks, geese. After much patience caught a 3lb trout. I have never seen so many rainbows – singles and doubles! Thank you for a perfect stay on a stunning barge, and the Bath house – WOW."

"The most relaxing and interesting visit – the final part of our tour of the UK for our Honeymoon! This gorgeous place was a wedding present and has been fantastic. Its calm, blissful and a real getaway from real life!

It was lovely to watch the stars from bed, watch the birds/wildlife whilst having breakfast/dinner. We love the decor and the Boathouse. We spent the entire time surfing and Paddle boarding at Widemouth Bay – gorgeous. The superb 26 degree weather as perfect so it was lovely to just sit out overlooking the lake drinking champagne. Thank you for a lovely stay, you made our honeymoon even more special."

"When our 10th anniversary trip to Italy was cancelled we were looking for somewhere special to escape to for our staycation.Blackbird was everything we could have hoped for and more – so tranquil, luxurious and the perfect base from which to explore North Devon and Cornwall. The Bathhouse was divine and watching the stars from a clear night from the deckchairs was breathtaking. Sandymouth, Port Isaac and the Hurlers stones offered amazing walks and vistas, and Castle Drogo and Hartland Abbey were also beautiful to visit. Thanks for creating this idyllic place."

"We had a wonderful 4 day stay. Blackbird is so cosy and is equipped with everything you could possibly need. Great spot for visiting so many great sites. Had a great day walking the cliffpath from Duckpool to Sandymouth and visiting Tintagel (book tickets through English Heritage before visiting) Haytor point on Dartmoor was also a fun day with beautiful walking. We have had an amazing time and will definitely visit again."

"Great fun – beautiful place to spend a weekend relaxing. We didn’t leave the boat apart from an evening trip to Bude to eat at a restaurant there. Spent the time fishing painting reading watching the dab chicks, and having baths! Weather was a tad mixed and some heavy rain sunny otherwise, but it was still lovely"

"It was just Perfect! From the location, tranquillity, lake and the fantastic boat. We had a wonderful few days relaxing and exploring. The coastal Path Walk from Sandymouth took us all the way to Morwenstow to the lovely Rectory Tea Room where we had a well deserved lunch! A big Favourite for us was our first visit to Rosemoor Gardens – a real GEM Thank you Blackbird it was a treat and we hope to return."

"We have enjoyed a delightful and peaceful four night stay. We loved the quiet, reading, writing and fishing. We did venture out to explore Bude and Holsworthy. Would recommend the Rydon Inn for Lunch and the ham egg and chips at the Kings Arms was something else! We made good use of the marked fishing swim opposite and caught several good sized trout mainly on float with maggots, didn’t have so much success fly fishing, several bites but couldn’t land them. Early morning and late afternoon seemed the best time. We would love to return."
