EXPLORE THE COAST & MOORS

Blackbird is in the heart of the North Devon countryside commonly known as  Ruby Country- the land between the moors, bordered by Exmoor, Dartmoor and Bodmin Moor. To the north and west lies the Atlantic coast in all its splendour. You can surf the nearby beaches in the morning and walk the moors or go on (and off!) road cycling late into the evening. North West Devon is considered to be one of the most un-spoilt rural environments in England

BIRD WATCHING

We don't suggest you make any plans while at Blackbird, switch off your phone, power down and relax.  The best activity while you are here is to just sit and watch the wildlife all around you, listen to the animals calling each other and see how many you can spot through our onboard binoculars.  We supply the RSPB book of British Birds to help you with identifying them.

GUEST FISHING

Fishing is positively encouraged at Blackbird, but you must have your own Government Fishing Rod Licence which can be applied for here, as well as a permit from us to fish our lake.  Please email hello@tregulland.co.uk to request a fishing permit. The lake is well stocked with fish for you, so bring your rod and see what you can catch - there is nothing quite as satisfying as catching, cooking and eating your supper! NB: Please double bag any fish guts before putting into the rubbish bin.  We do not provide or hire out fishing equipment.

WALKS

There is an Ordnance Survey map on the shelves –  do use it to plot some of the fabulous walks around Blackbird, but make sure you return it for our next guests to use. Look up some of the amazing local walks via the OS website or download the very handy OS app on to your phone!
