Tregulland Cottage and Barn
For escaping, exploring, entertaining and dreaming

Welcome to the latest edition of 'Tregulland Times'. We've had a busy season with guests making the most of the British summer. We'd like to say thank you to everyone who has helped make our first year so successful. Reading the guest book comments is amazing, we are delighted everyone loves being at Tregulland as much as us. We now have several repeat customers and are taking bookings for next year so 'book early to avoid disappointment'. We have still got more ideas for the grounds and have added the games room and the play area already. Our PV panels are now in place and we will be analysing energy use and we will report back soon on how close we are to being carbon zero.

We were very pleased to get a review in The Sunday Telegraph recently. Fiona Duncan came down as part of a group of friends without her work hat on but was so impressed she decided to review us anyway, putting Tregulland into her Hotel Guru column as a 'Hometel'. We have also started fitness retreats with Dan Roberts' personal trainers which was covered by Susan D'Arcy's article in the Sunday Times.

Special offers - Midweek Madness

It's harder to organise groups to come away midweek but to add an incentive we have slashed our rates for 4 night stays (arrive Monday, leave Friday). And in a moment of madness we are offering you a further 10% off our new prices for a limited period*. This means you could get away for crazy prices starting as low as £31 per person per night for some of the best accommodation in Cornwall! Furthermore we have frozen our weekend and week rates for the coming year.

Cornish Delicacies continue with their success. They offer pre-prepared meals that you can heat yourself or more elaborate three or five course meals. One guest recently commented, "the meal that Vicky dropped off on the Friday night was great, it meant we didn't have to worry about cooking and could get on and enjoy catching up with everyone we hadn't seen for ages!" And, of course, for that special occasion there is Rick Stein's Seafood Restaurant available to come to you at Tregulland. Please contact Bonny for further information or sample menus.

Rainy day fun

Despite the weather this summer guests have remained positive and water sports have been popular - if you can't beat the rain join it! You can only get so wet. Our one to one surf lessons have been a hit, Jay Parsons who has been instructing for many years has got many of our guests up on their feet for the first time - prices from £35 per person per session. Jay can collect you from Tregulland and drop you off after the lesson. We can orgainse group coastal activities such as coasteering and rock climbing too. Or for this time of year how about a woodland walk and a pub lunch...? And of course don't forget our indoor fresh water pool, cinema and games room are always good for rainy days too! Please contact Bonny for further information.

Nature at Tregulland

The kestrels have now reappeared in the valley as they did this time last year, and were often seen through last winter hunting for small mammals over the rough grassland. We are hoping they find the nest box we put up for them in the valley bottom.

The starlings, that return to winter in the area, have not yet appeared but we can expect the massive murmurations to be arriving soon, flying over Tregulland in their millions to roost in the woods surrounding nearby Crowdy Reservoir and Rough Tor.

The otters, that move up and down the River Inny and past the lake during the night, still remain largely unseen but leave their tell tale "calling cards" in the form of spraints on many prominent stones in the river and along the bank. This enables us to tell when they have been moving through the grounds of Tregulland.

Check our nature page for more info or get updates by following us on Twitter.

Finally, please do send this on to friends, family and colleagues who you think may be interested. Alternatively they can download a copy of our brochure here.

We look forward to seeing you soon!
