Tregulland & Co - Coronavirus update

Tregulland Cottage & Barn Coronavirus Information

Dear Guests,

Welcome to our beautiful house, we hope you will love it here.

In order to be allowed to open at all due to the Coronavirus pandemic we have followed government guidelines and made some changes to how we operate. We have drawn up extensive and detailed plans to protect you, our staff and the local community from the risk of infection. Please do ask for a digital copy of our Covid Risk Assessment if you would like. We have implemented many additional cleaning routines we are also required to take contact details. We have now replaced most of the books, games and DVDs, reverted to our original checkin/check out times (4pm/10am) and we no longer ask you to strip your own beds before departure as the risk of infection for our staff is low. Thank you for your help in this matter.

Our pool has no chlorine, the water is purified through three giant filtration tanks full of natural plant based bacteria. We have been advised that there is almost no risk of infection in the pool itself, but that the changing room and pool surrounds are likely to be high risk areas. We have implemented additional cleaning regimes, but you may like to use the  spray to disinfect it before and after use each day. NB: Please do not pour cleaning solution into the pool or drains, it will kill the delicate ecosystem that cleans everything naturally.

All our staff are still checked for a temperature before each shift. They use clean rubber gloves, mask and apron for each shift. We have split the house cleaning teams so that, where possible only people from the same household make beds together to minimise the risk of infection.

Every house will be spotlessly cleaned, as always, using environmentally friendly products where appropriate (which still kill covid). If you are concerned, feel free to wipe down all high touch areas again when you first arrive if you wish.

We have returned most of the books, games and DVDs and a few copies of the guest info booklet as the risk of cross contamination with Covid is low.  All of the normal local information is available on our website View Guest information (PDF)  If you are concerned, please do not touch the books and other objects still on the shelves.

Everything should be sparkling clean as always, If you are uncomfortable about using anything in the kitchen (cutlery, glass wear, crockery, kitchen pans etc) we recommend you run it all through the dishwasher before your first use.

We have not installed wall mounted sanitiser dispensers as washing your hands with soap and water for 20 seconds is still the gold standard advice to remove Covid. Please ensure everyone in your party (especially children) washes their hands very regularly throughout your stay.

We have left cleaning kit for guests. As we have a reed bed filtration system and septic tank, you MUST NOT flush large amounts of bleach down the drain, please use the cleaning solution in the spray bottle and brand new cloth provided as it will kill all signs of Covid and is safe (in small amounts) in our system.

We recommend all children wash their hands before and after going to play on the playground equipment

We no longer ask you to strip your own beds, but as Covid has proven to be mainly transmitted via airborne particles, please wedge all internal doors open DO NOT leave any doors or widows open to the weather as the rain comes on quickly this close to the moor. It is important to leave on time (10am), as we need to protect our staff from any unnecessary contact.

If anyone gets ill (has a temperature or a new continuous cough) while staying in our house you need to email us immediately and plan to all go home ASAP. Please do NOT stay until the end of your booking but instead self-isolate in your own houses. Please see laminated poster in reception rooms for more detailed Covid information.

And finally, the local community is very keen to welcome you back to beautiful Cornwall, but is understandably concerned, so please make sure you wear masks out of the house where appropriate, wash your hands regularly and stick to social distancing rules at all times.

Thank you for your understanding in these crazy Covid times, please do come back again next year when we hope everything will be back to normal and we can revert to a more relaxed changeover!

Yours faithfully

Ken and Illona Aylmer
and all the team at Tregulland & Co.
